19 February 2008

Well it's that time of year again!

The Association of Astronomy Educators (who sponsors these email blasts) has two time blocks at the NSTA National Convention in Boston and we would like YOU to present! The sessions below are geared toward K-12 educators and center around two broad subject areas: (1) Sun, Earth and Planets and (2) Beyond the Solar System.

What's Up? - Sun, Earth, and Planets
Friday, March 28, 2008 from 2:00-3:00pm
Westin Boston Waterfront, Commonwealth B

What's Up? - Beyond the Solar System
Sunday March 30, 2008 from 8:00-9:00am
Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, Room 054

We would like to have folks sign up for one of eight 12-minute hands-on slots to present a classroom-ready teaching activity to NSTA attendees. We strongly encourage an active audience participation model for these presentations. Anyone who would like to share is welcome to submit their name and a descriptive title by 5pm EST on March 14, 2008. Please feel free to pass this email along to anyone you think may be interested in presenting.

When you are positive you will be attending the meeting, you can apply to present by sending the following information via private email to emilie.drobnes@nasa.gov. Please be sure to put "NSTA Boston" in the subject line.

DESCRIPTIVE TITLE
PRESENTER NAME
PRESENTER AFFILIATION
EMAIL ADDRESS
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ACTIVITY THAT WILL BE PRESENTED
PREFERRED SESSION: (1) Sun, Earth, and Planets or (2) Beyond the Solar System

We will try to select presenters from a wide range of topics from those that apply. Please note that the individual presentation length time may change depending on the number and types of presentation requests received. Also please note that AAE is not able to provide any funds to support travel.
